Mission Statement
Summit Theatre aims to be a supportive and diverse community of theatre enthusiasts.
We strongly believe that an arts education empowers creative expression, personal growth, and responsibility in its students. We are proud to provide a fully inclusive program for students to explore pre-professional opportunities in all aspects of theatre arts production as part of our public programming.
Theatre is a collaborative art. There is a place for everyone within our department and the opportunity to explore and showcase unique talents, including performance, management, tech, and design.
And most importantly, we seek to inspire, educate, entertain, and connect through our passion for great theatre.

Ava Swetland (she/her) is a junior at Summit, and can’t wait to be part of the Theatre Board. This is her third year being involved with theatre, and she can’t wait to continue to explore her passion and share it with others. Theatre has been a huge part of Reggie’s life ever since he was a little kid and he has done just about every type of role from onstage to tech. When Reggie isn’t anywhere near the stage, you can find him spending time with his friends and his dog, skiing, baking, camping, or really anything outdoors. |
Alaina Tarr, Improv Club President
Alaina (she/her) is a junior at Summit and is thrilled to take on the role as Improv Club President this year! She has done theatre since she was very young, and loves being a part of all her productions whether on stage or off! Alaina is so excited to see what the amazing STC has in store, and she can’t wait to be a part of it. |
About Mrs. Okamoto
Lara Okamoto (she/her) has an undergraduate degree in Theatre Arts Education and English Literature, and a Masters in Teaching from Western Washington University in addition to a Masters in Theatre Studies in Production and Design from Southern Oregon University. She had a wonderfully eye opening experience student teaching at Box Hill, an International Boarding School in Surrey, England before moving to Aspen, Colorado where she taught Theatre and IB Theatre for five years at Aspen High School. While living in Colorado, Lara spent a summer developing and leading workshops on teaching strategies to Cambodian classroom teachers in Siem Reap with Teachers Across Borders. She also has experience in professional theatre, working for Theatre Aspen for three years as a wardrobe assistant, dresser and House Manager and works as an independent contractor for theatrical lighting design. Lara started working at Summit High School in 2013 and couldn't be happier with the Summit community and all the amazing students she has been fortunate enough to work with. In the rare occurrence that she has time away from the theater, Lara enjoys trail running, baking and spending time with her husband, Elliot, her daughter, Surrey, and son, Rowan.
